From Gold Coast Hotel to Club Burleigh

June 3, 2026

A Legendary Burleigh Corner

One of Burleigh’s most iconic pubs once stood exactly where Club Burleigh stands today. Long before the light rail, the high-rises and before Burleigh became the bustling destination it is now, this corner was home to one of the Gold Coast’s most famous watering holes – the Gold Coast Hotel, affectionately known as the “Goldie”.

Perched right at the foot of the headland, it was THE place to pull up for a cold one. For decades, locals and holidaymakers would make this location STOP ONE for a cold beer, a great feed and to share some epic stories. The Gold Coast Hotel was more than just a pub – it was a gathering place where memories were made and friendships forged.

Carrying On the Tradition

Now Club Burleigh sits on this very same site under the Swell resort, carrying on the tradition that’s been part of this corner for generations. We’re proud to continue bringing people together with even more dining and entertainment options, all served with a generous helping of friendly and relaxed hospitality that honours the spirit of the original Goldie.

With the new Burleigh light rail stop just 30 steps away from our doorstep, it’s never been easier to make us your STOP ONE as well. The convenience of modern transport meets the timeless tradition of great hospitality at one of Burleigh’s most historic corners.

Share Your Memories

We’d love to hear from anyone who remembers the old Gold Coast Hotel. Got a photo, a story, or remember having a beer there back in the day? Your memories help keep the history of this special location alive for future generations to appreciate.
